The Great Barrington Declaration

The GBD is a proposal for a COVID-19 response strategy that calls for herd immunity through “Focused Protection” rather than widespread lockdowns. After reading the GBD website, I learned that it was authored by three epidemiologists, Dr. Martin Kulldorff, Dr. Sunetra Gupta, and Dr. Jay Bhattacharya. All three of these medical doctors have extensive experience and expertise in the field of epidemiology and have published research on various public health topics. It is safe to say, these people know what they’re talking about.

The idea of the Great Barrington Declaration response strategy was to garner herd immunity while also letting healthy people live their daily lives. To do this, they stated that it would be a good idea to just let COVID run its course, infect as many healthy people as possible, and in the long run achieve herd immunity which would keep the more vulnerable safe. Comparing this strategy to America’s lockdown and mandates policies, they are polar opposites. If America were to use the GBD strategy, I believe it would have alleviated much more stress in our country. People would be able to live their life and go to work instead of being locked in their rooms for months on end. I think that the United States didn’t factor in mental health in its policies.

In regards to these GBD doctors being suppressed by the NIH and NIAID, I would not be shocked if this were 100% accurate. Censorship has been so prevalent, especially during the pandemic. While I definitely believe in censorship, sometimes it’s acceptable. For example, I believe that the GDB doctors were suppressed because this strategy promoted a disunified country. For apparent reasons, that is not what the United States needs.

Divide & Rule – COVID-19

What should I believe? This has been the burning question throughout the past few years as we have trekked through the COVID-19 pandemic. In the video by the Indian scholar, Vandana Shiva, divide and conquer is the idea of a strategy of creating divisions or divisions within a group or society in order to weaken or control them. Although Shiva correlated this with big companies and the 1%, we also may see this with the government throughout the pandemic.

Let’s go on a hypothetical and believe everything Dr. Lee Merritt stated about COVID-19 and its numerous lies. Wouldn’t these lies all be a perfect way to achieve this idea of divide and conquer? It makes people split up into two groups: believers and non-believers. Hence, it creates more and more unnecessary division in the United States of America. With this division, the government is able to control each and every one of our lives unconsciously while we are dazed and confused about the division between each other.

While I believe many people are ignorant, I still believe that my government would do the right thing “by the people and for the people.”

Would I Plug In?

My life is invaluable. The relationships I make, the books I read, and the companies I work for are all steps into building the life I want. However, the question posed to me was, would I plug into a machine that could take care of all my distress and let me achieve my perfect life? My short answer: absolutely not.

What would life be like if I wasn’t able to make a mistake? Perfect? No way. I find joy in making mistakes, learning from them, and building upon my previous experiences to never make that mistake again. This makes me feel that I have sort of achieved something, instead of it being handed to me on a silver platter. If I did plug in, the few hours I had not inside the machine would ruin my conscience. I would not be able to live with myself knowing I “chose the easy way out.”
